THE TEAM
About the founder
Nozuko qualified with a BA (Law) and LLB from the University of Cape Town in 1999. Having completed her articles of clerkship and training with the erstwhile Hofmeyr Inc., she was admitted to the attorneys’ roll and promoted to an associate in 2002, specialising in general commercial law.
She joined the corporate sector in 2004, serving as Group Legal Advisor and Company Secretary for a diversified investment group of companies, the J&J Group between 2004 and 2008, as thereafter as the Legal Advisor, Compliance Manager and Company Secretary for Pareto Limited, a commercial property investment corporation, between 2008 and 2009.
These roles involved compliance and risk monitoring, company secretarial and corporate governance, general legal advisory services including mergers and acquisitions, commercial leasing and property development, including representation in subsidiary and investee company boards.
Having been part of the senior management structures within these organisations, Nozuko sharpened her corporate management skills and experience in large organisations, which has been instrumental in developing her overall advisory capabilities, particularly in governance.
In 2009 she ventured on her own, opening NH Corporate Legal Consultancy (Pty) Ltd (“NH Consultancy”), which she has been running successfully since then. Since incorporation, the consultancy has provided commercial legal services to various clients. Through the NH Consultancy she has developed governance frameworks and monitors compliance for various clients in line with the Companies Act and the Public Finance Management Act (“the PFMA”), where applicable.
Amongst others, she had developed the governance framework for and continues to advise the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud NPC since inception in 2013, where she has expanded her knowledge in the areas of consumer protection law and alternative dispute resolution.
In addition, she developed public sector governance and supply chain management expertise through services offered public sector clients such as Mpumalanga Economic Development Agency (MEDA) and Alexkor Limited SOC, between 2009 and 2013.
In 2015 she was part of a team that conducted a forensic investigation on the governance and management of commercial leases on behalf of a large municipality. Nozuko has also served as the registered company secretary for some of her clients both in the private and public sector.
Throughout her legal career of 18 years, Nozuko had developed expertise in consumer law, public law, commercial and corporate law with extensive expertise in corporate governance. In 2018, she restructured the consultancy by opening the practise, with the intention of further widening the services range within the legal practise environment.
The expertise acquired through the success of NH Consultancy over the past 9 years, brought about the birth of the practise.
